Clayton Little League is a community-based program offering baseball for all youth (ages 5-16) of Johnston County regardless of ability or socio-economic status. With the ages offered, CLL is the only area baseball program where kids can play together from kindergarten through high school. We are the largest baseball program in the Clayton area as well as the only league sanctioned by Little League International (www.littleleague.org). Little League Baseball is the program of choice – by far – for more communities than any other youth sports organization in the world. As a result of our affiliation, Clayton’s most outstanding baseball players can aspire to play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.
As a community-based program, CLL is intended for and focused on residents within the greater community area. International Little League standards require that an individual league boundary represent a population of no more than 20,000. In the case of CLL, this constitutes a boundary that primarily includes the corporate and planning districts of the Town of Clayton. Actual boundaries extend toward Archer’s Lodge, Smithfield, Cleveland, and the Wake County border.
There are many advantages of a community-based program like CLL. One of the most important advantages is that it allows members of the community to get to know one another. Parents spend a lot of time with the activities of their children, and spending it closer to home allows us more time with the members of our families as well as our neighbors. Another advantage is developing pride in and exposure for our community, which is especially shown during interleague and tournament play. In District 6, Clayton plays community teams from Garner, North Durham, South Durham, Wilson, Clinton, West Fayetteville, Sampson and Wilmington. In the state tournament, Clayton may play teams from communities anywhere from Murphy to Manteo. A community-based program also enhances the affordability as non-community based programs often have travel expenses, field rentals, special insurance, and tournament fees which can increase the per season costs to thousands of dollars.
First timers to seasoned veterans are always welcome! We are proud of the traditions we offer at CLL and believe you will be too. Please browse our site for more information. We look forward to building a baseball relationship with your family.
